"Alice Martinez-Richter and the Mediterranean sea

from july 12th to october, 3rd in Narbonne

It was one of the first women prize-winners of the prize of Rome of painting, crowned twice with this title, in 1933 and 1939. Alice Martinez-Richter ( 1911-1996 ) goes out of the semi forgetting into which she was plunged for 25 years, with this exhibition event organized to the Museum of art and history(story) of Narbonne, within the framework of the "Festival Horizon the Mediterranean Sea".
In quite 54 works are gathered, to discover the powerful and sensitive painting of this artist expressionist whom inspired both banks of the Mediterranean Sea, North Africa in the Iberic peninsula. Everywhere colors burst in this work where succeed one another the Moresque portraits, the nudes, the landscapes and the still lives, the sea and the fishermen, etc.... An exhibition to be discovered to the museum of Narbonne, sheltered in the magnificent place of the Palace of Archbishops of Narbonne, which distinguishes itself by its exceptional Orientalist collection (the first one of France) with more than 130 Orientalist works.
